Song Be Golf Resort was Vietnam’s first international championship golf course and one of the most challenging layouts in the country. The natural landscape of fruit orchards and coconut palms gave way in 1994 to the current golf course. In 1995 the Song Be golf course was officially rated following the USGA requirements.

The 18-hole resort-style layout features ten lakes. As Song Be translates as “little river,” a tributary of the Mekong, it is unsurprising that water comes into play in eight of the 18 holes, with a challenging tee shot between two lakes at the tenth. Mature tree-lined fairways with undulating greens add to the overall golf course difficulty.

The new Desert Course is something out of a Western movie. Cowboys and Indians come to mind when seeing all of the paraphernalia from the western part of the USA. The 9-holes are devoid of the jungle but substitute sizeable sandy waste areas for a challenging round.

Playing off from the blue tees of any of the 3-combinations is a challenge as the total length measures over 7000 yards. Song Be is a walking course, and all the caddies are female. Golf carts are available for one or two golfers. A fully equipped but aging clubhouse provides golfers with excellent forest and dune views to enjoy the golf course and facilities after their round.

Song Be is an excellent way to spend a day golfing in Ho Chi Minh City.
